KITV4 News – Help needed at Aloha Stadium concession stands

HONOLULU – Just 4 days left until the home opener for the UH Football team and some helping hands are needed around the Warriors home turf, Aloha stadium.
By Roger Mari
“We just need lots and lots of people,” says Carolyn Carly, Source It, Inc. Owner.
For more than seven years now, Source It, Inc. has been staffing the University of Hawaii football games, and helping to keep the fans fueled. There will be more than just footballs being passed this Saturday night at Aloha Stadium.
“People pass out hamburgers and hot dogs french fries and soda pop and then we also do the beer stands,” says Carly
So far this year the team has faced some big challenges losing to Cal in the season Opener and then losing 63-3 in Michigan. Source It, Inc. has some of it’s own challenges. With the state unemployment rate hovering at around 3 percent, it’s been difficult finding solid employees.
“People who will show up when they say they’re going to show up on time and dressed appropriately and ready to work,” says Carly
As soon as the ball is kicked-off on the field, it’s all business at the concession stands and football games can be long.
“When the game is in progress, you’re on your feet and working constantly it will make you sympathize with anybody who works behind a counter definitely,” says Malcolm Kirkpatrick, Source It, Inc., Employee
For others, it’s fun, the pay is OK and it makes for a great side job.
“Especially if you have a full time job already, it helps with the extra cash and stuff,” says Monalia Falealili, Source It, Inc. Employee
“Can’t wait. so excited about it every year. it’s a real, it’s a lot of energy, there’s good energy that goes around so if you want to work, it’s a fun place to come on down to,” says Carly.
Kick-off this Saturday will be at 6 p.m. against the University of Tennessee Martin Skyhawks.
While the Rainbow Warrior football team hopes to fill seats this Saturday, one employment staffing agency is working to make sure the concession stands won’t be empty of workers.
Source It, is looking to fill between 60 and 70 positions. You do need to be 21 to serve beer. To apply click here.
